The ascent of Mt. Wilhelm is a strenuous though non technical climb. Drive from Mt. Hagen through the fertile Wahgi Valley and the spectacular Simbu Gorge to Keglsugl at 8200 feet (2500 meters), and our accommodation for the night. Next morning a moderate four hour climb through rainforest and alpine grasslands to the Piunde Lakes base camp at 11, 700 feet (3600 meters). One can spend an easy day here enjoying the superb views, alpine grasslands, glacial lakes and waterfalls, or take a longer hike to the WW2 wreck of a B17 bomber. Those wishing to conquer the summit head off per-dawn aiming for the summit at sunrise, and incredible views of the north coastline and surrounding mountains and valleys. Return to the base camp in the afternoon. Next morning hike to Keglsugl and return to Mount Hagen or Goroka

Day 1 | Arrive in to Port Moresby, meet and transfer to Mt. Hagen or Goroka, Guided trek to PNG’s highest mountain. Depart Mt. Hagen or Goroka by 4WD vehicle to Keglsugl via Pari burial caves. On arrival, afternoon tour of Betty’s Trout farm, bird watching at nearby forests. Overnight at Betty’s Lodge | LD |
Day 2 | Early morning after breakfast, trek/climb to Base Camp. Afternoon explore the lakes PiundeYaundo, nature, flora and fauna. Overnight at the A FRAME Hut. | BLD |
Day 3 | Early morning, pre-dawn climb from base camp up to the summit. Enjoy sunrise at the top and magnificent views before returning to Base Camp for overnight at A FRAME Hut or to Keglsul at Betty’s Lodge. | BLD |
Day 4 | Depart Keglsugl and take breathtaking scenery drive through gorges, fast flowing rivers, alpine forests and grasslands to Mt. Hagen or Goroka, End of Mt. Wilhelm Trek | BL |
End Of Mt Wilhem Trek
NB: 2 Nights Accommodation at Betty’s Guest House are included on the first night and the last night of each trek and 1 night is at the National Park Hut, all meals, visit to Pari village burial caves and private car transfers form Mt. Hagen to Goroka or vv. Cultural Activities are also included at Mindima village.
Mt. Wilhem To Madang Trek Itinerary

Day
Arrive into Mt. Hagen from Port Moresby, meet/greet and transfer to hotel and overnight at hotel Kimininga. (No Meals)

Day
Road tour from Mt. Hagen to Kegsugl on a private 4WD vehicle, upon arrival at Kegsugl at mid day, meet up with porter/carriers and trek to Lake Piunde – Overnight at Base camp. (Lunch & Dinner included).

Day
Early morning trek to summit (Note, they must start very early so they reach the summit before sun rise) and trek back to Kegsugl – Overnight at Kegsugl Guest House (All meals included)

Day
Start at 7:00 am and trek from Kegsugl to Bundi passing through local villages, arrive at Bundi and overnight at Bundil Guesthouse (All meals included)

Day
Trek from Bindi to Brahaman – Overnight Brahman Brahaman Guest House (All meals included).

Day
Catch a PMV from Brahman to the junction of the road to Madang, from the junction, catch another PMV to Madang, arrive in Madgang and overnight at Madang Lodge (Breakfast & lunch included).

Day
At Leisure in Madang for optional actives – Overnight Madang Lodge. (No Meals)

Day
Transfer to airport for flight to Port Moresby and end of our services. (No Meals).
